Darkor Ofosu-Dorte is a 20-year old student, fashion designer, entrepreneur, founder and creative director of the brand’s – Darkor’s and Swims by Didi. Darkor has always aspired to be a fashion designer and been very passionate about art and fashion. Growing up, she noticed she dressed differently from the average girl, as she would prefer sneakers to heels and baggy clothes to pretty dresses etc., and, as a result, was coined a ‘tomboy’ by her mum, but, as she has grown, her style has evolved. She believes it has also made a significant impact on her designs which are now a mix of a masculine and feminine touch.

Hubert de Givenchy once said, “The dress must follow the body of a woman, not the body following the shape of the dress.” This statement is what inspired the designs from my new collection. The first time I heard this quote I critically thought about the shape of a woman; how a dress should follow their figure & how some other dresses also make bodies follow the dresses and how it may not be flattering.

This year I have achieved things I would only have daydreamed about occurring, hence why I chose a fabric that, from my perspective, looks dreamy, hence the name of the collection – ‘Reverie’ which means a daydream.  My reverie turned reality serves as the inspiration for this collection.
